News Stories from the Tap World

Apologies
How rubbish am I at updating?! Huge apologies for those wanting the latest routines and pictures from all the various adult events and festivals. I'm finding that, as I am now helping to organise and run most of these events, there is little time for writing routines down - and we all know that by the time you get home you can't remember a thing!!
Therefore if anyone has any routines from Dancers Days Out, TapUK or Maurice's weekends that are typed out and you are pretty sure are correct, then please feel free to send them to me.

Tap Academy
From September 2006 - tap classes for children and adults. See the website (currently under construction) or classes/events page.

Festival Success
The ATD tap festival - TapUK 2006 - was a great success in it's new venue on the Isle of Wight. Unfrotunately, I was so busy during the weekend that I didnt get to write any routines down. So, for those of you waiting for me to get them on the website, I'm really sorry. If anyone DID write anything down then feel free to send it to me and I will try and get it on the site.

Website
I realise I have been pretty slack of late in updating the website - my apologies. I'm afraid there just aren't enough hours in the day!! However, today I have managed to upload some pictured from TapUK 2005 and Maurice Kachuk's October 05 weekend.
The next big update should be pictures and routines from the last 8 months of Dancers Days Out. Keep checking back!!

Fayard Nicholas

Tap legend Fayard Nicholas passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2006.  He was surrounded by friends and his loving wife, Katherine Hopkins Nicholas. Fayard suffered a stroke in late November and had been in hospital since - only coming home a few days before his death.

You can read the full story at http://rustyfrank.com/fayardnicholas.htm and an obituary by Terry Monaghan at http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/news/obituary/0,,1695842,00.html

A new consumer exhibition is being held at London’s Olympia - 21-23 April 2006. Dance London 2006 will celebrate and promote dance in all its incarnations. A main stage will feature many different performances and there will be free classes covering all styles of dance. There will also be demonstrations and seminars. New Shoes
Bloch now have the Audeo shoe which is a full sole version of the Tap Flex shoe featuring soft leather and a very comfortable insole. A non-slip pro balance pad is located behind the tap plate. This pad has been designed to smoothen out weight transference and reduce excess toe spring caused by the tap plate. The upper design is shaped to relieve pressure on the Achilles tendon.
They also have the Merry Jane, a two tie shoe in synthetic leather upper and resin outsole. A removable matching leather bow slides on and off the ankle strap, which is elasticated to release tension on the instep. It also has the pro balance pad. Find them at the Bloch website.

Capezio have brought out the Teletone Xtreme - The ultimate in new tap shoes! Features include taps with an exclusive steel sounding board, micro sole, interior lining is soft micro-peached poly/cotton and a cushioned insole is provided for added comfort.
Capezio's other new tap shoe is the Mary Jane - a low heel buckle or velcro shoe in leather, patent leather or dyeable canvas. These also have a removable bow. The Capezio website has all the details.
